It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Violet Wells of Ponoka, Alberta on May 12, 2026 at the age of 88.

She is survived by her children, Laurie (Wayne), Dale (Guylaine), Larry (Tomasina), Michael, her 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Violet was predeceased by her husband Melvin, grandson Darcy, brother-in-law Ken, and sister-in-law Eileen.

During her 65 years of marriage, Violet raised four children, farmed alongside her husband, tended a large vegetable garden and juggled a multitude of tasks with tireless energy. Somehow, she found the time organize family adventures to the mountains. She would hold down the basecamp and render first-aid when the dirt biking got rambunctious. There are many fond memories of these adventures, as well as an abundance of smiles. After retirement, she and her husband were able to travel extensively throughout the states and spend several winters in Arizona. She photographed many beautiful Arizona sunsets while enjoying evenings around an outdoor fire. Always one to keep busy, she volunteered for many years at the Centennial Centre, and Mission Thrift Store in Ponoka. In addition, she had a favorite hobby of operating an antique/curio store in Bashaw, owned by her son Michael. Always eager to chat with visitors from near and far, it provided a great supply of interesting stories to share. She was a devoted friend and neighbor to many over the years, always willing to lend a hand where needed, she will be sorely missed by all. Her faith sustained her throughout her life and she has not bid us goodbye, this is but a temporary absence until we reunite.

A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the International
Fellowship of Christians and Jew’s, or a charity of choice.
