It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Robertson of Lacombe announce he passed away on Monday, October 13 after a brief illness in the Red Deer Hospital at age 75 years.
Wayne was born in Lacombe June 8, 1950. After a few years in Tees and Mirror, Wayne spent the remainder of his life residing in Lacombe. After graduating from Lacombe Composite High School and attending the University of Alberta, Wayne was employed by the Lacombe Research and Development Centre where he worked for 29 years.
Wayne had many interests to which he gave his all. He thoroughly enjoyed his work in meat sciences at the Research Centre. He was an avid gardener, golfer, camper, fisherman, and hunter (both bow and rifle). He was a voracious reader and collector of English literature. He enjoyed listening to music, both classical and modern. He loved to cook and has many books on the crafts of cooking, barbecuing and smoking. You only needed to enjoy one of his meals to know he had mastered the art of food preparation.
Wayne’s greatest joy in life was spending time with the many wonderful friends he made while working, golfing, fishing, hunting and entertaining. He will be missed by many.
Wayne is survived by his brothers, Morris of Cranbrook, Donald (Janet) of High River, and Warren of High River; as well as five nephews and their spouses and children; extended family and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Murray and Muriel Robertson; and sister-in-law, Merry Dawn Robertson.
At his request no service or celebration will be held.
Our thanks to the medical staff on Unit 33 at Red Deer Hospital who took great care in looking after Wayne in his final days. Also thanks to the Lacombe doctors and staff who tended to Wayne over the years. And many thanks to all his great friends who supported Wayne when needed.
