Wendell Tomlinson

It is with broken hearts that the family of Wendell Tomlinson announce his peaceful passing on May 29, 2018 in Palliative Care at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 70.

Wendell will be lovingly missed by his wife of 50 years, Linda, his daughters, Alana (Kevin) and Kelly (Craig), his beloved grandchildren, Monica, Bailey and Colby, his sisters, Marilyn (Ray) and Ardis (Charlie), nieces and nephews, so many dear friends and extended relatives. Wendell was predeceased by his father, Chester and mother, Lucy.

Wendell spent the majority of his career (26 years) working as a millwright for Syncrude Canada in Fort McMurray, AB. In 2002, he and Linda bought their dream acreage in Lacombe, AB where they retired and lived for the last 16 years. Wendell had a passion for all things outdoors; fishing, hunting, quading, camping and riding his beloved tractor taking care of the acreage. He loved to work with his hands, which was evident in his beautiful woodworking projects.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff of the Lacombe Regional Hospital and family doctor, Dr. Chatel (while waiting for placement in long-term care), the care workers at Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka, and most recently, the compassionate care of Dr Moore and the staff with the Palliative/Acute Care team at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. Thank you for holding our hands through these incredibly difficult final days.

A memorial service to celebrate Wendell's life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe, AB on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The family respectfully requests that in the lieu of flowers, donations be made in Wendell's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
