William Edgar Stauffer

William “Willie” Edgar Stauffer of Lacombe, AB formerly of Bashaw, AB passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 95 years at the Lacombe Continuing Care Facility.

Willie was born on April 16, 1930 in Bashaw, AB to Fred and Catherine Stauffer.  Attended school in Bashaw and later attended Olds College.  Willie married Hilda Reeves on October 20, 1956 and moved to the Lake Bend district where their daughter Brenda and three sons Curtis, Stanley and Randel were born. In 1990 Willie and Hilda retired, sold the farm and moved to an acreage outside of Bashaw.  In 2004 they moved to Lacombe and resided until his passing. He enjoyed his dairy cattle and loved to show them off at Dairy Shows throughout Alberta.  Willie also farmed his land and throughout the years raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, and beef cattle.

An avid Moose Member, sitting on the board for many years.  He was a board member for the Bashaw Curling Association, the Bashaw Golf and Country Golf Club and the Lake Bend Society.  He enjoyed being involved in 4-H with his children and taught Sunday School at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Willie loved staying active playing golf, curling, slow pitch, bowling and travelling with their fifth wheel exploring golf courses within Central Alberta.  Willie decided to hang up his bowling balls and shoes at the age of 94 when he was no longer able to drive. He enjoyed watching the ‘Battle of Alberta’ and of course was always thrilled when the Calgary Flames won.

Willie will be dearly missed by his wife Hilda of 68 years, daughter Brenda (Grant) Walker of Lacombe, sons Curtis Stauffer of Alix and Randel Stauffer of Hinton; grandchildren; Jayden and Caleigh Stauffer, Daryl (Gwen) Walker, Michelle (Chris) Huston, Melanie Stauffer, Amanda (Luke) Hanna, Allison (Colin) Campbell, ten great grandchildren, his sisters Crystal Reeves of Camrose and Freda Schierman of Lacombe. Willie was predeceased by his son, Stanley Stauffer and his father and mother, Fred and Catherine Stauffer.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Doctor’s (Dr. Olivia), Nurses, and Staff of the Lacombe Hospital and the Continuing Care Facility during his stay there.  We are forever grateful for the exceptional care, compassion and support that was provided.

With respect to Willie’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held.   A private family gathering to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
