William 'Bill' Oscar Williams Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of William “Bill” Williams announce his passing on June 14, 2026 at the age of 66 years.

Bill was born on June 3, 1960, to Lawrence and Jean Williams in Clive, Alberta. The youngest of five children, Bill grew up with a strong work ethic and a love of sports. He spent countless hours playing hockey and baseball and was well known for his wicked wrist shot.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bill became a mechanic by trade and eventually took over the family business, Clive Sales and Service. He took great pride in his work and built lasting relationships with customers and friends throughout the community.

In 1984, Bill met the love of his life, Rose. They were married in 1985 and built a life together centered on family, hard work, and unwavering support for one another. They were blessed with three children: Heather, Matt, and Andy. Bill’s days were often spent balancing long hours at the shop with even longer hours at the rink, cheering on and supporting his family. Family was everything to Bill, and that love remained evident throughout his life.

Later in life, Bill rekindled his passion for racing, a hobby that brought him immense joy and allowed him to create many cherished memories with friends and family.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 41 years, Rose Williams; his daughter, Heather Williams and her husband, Ethan Vandervelden; his son, Matt Williams and his wife, Chelsea; and his son, Andy Williams and his wife, Sara. He was a proud grandfather to Ben and Elliot Williams, who brought him endless happiness.  He is also survived by his sisters, Shona Sponholz, Moira Ellen and her husband Tim, and Margaret Williams, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Jean Williams; his mother-in-law, Mary Cameron; his brother, Jim Williams; and his brother-in-law, Henry Sponholz.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of racing, and the many lives he touched through his kindness, humour, and generosity.

Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to either the STARS Air Ambulance or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214 50 Ave, Lacombe).
