A. Bruce W. Thompson of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday January 5, 2017 in the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary at the age of 80 years.

Bruce lived a very happy life. He and his late wife Sandy (Powell) (RIP 2005) enjoyed running their family business Watches “n” More Promotional Products for many years in Airdrie, Alberta. Bruce worked as a Bank Manager for RBC for 27 years, then with CCH CANADIAN as a salesman. After being named the No.1 sales achiever in his first year, Bruce continued to excel and was moved into the position of Western Sales Manager after just two years with the company.

Bruce was always involved with his grandchildren and their activities. His granddaughter Ashley born with Down Syndrome became a great joy for Bruce, and he became involved with Ups & Downs, The Prep Program and Dreams Take Flight (which he travelled annually with the charity for 6 years volunteering & accompanying children including his granddaughter Ashley to Disneyland.

In the community of Airdrie you would always find Bruce at the Weekly Rotary Club Int. meeting, the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce meetings and always smiling around town and always willing to lend a helping hand.

A true Canadian, Bruce was a loyal Calgary Hitmen Season Ticket holder and fan.

Bruce was predeceased by his Beautiful Loving Wife; Sandra “Sandy” Thompson (Powell) of 43 years (2010), Brother; Dr. Trevor Thompson (2010), Sister; Jane MacDonald (2003), Father; Trevor Thompson – Co Founder of The Kinsmen Club of Canada (1982), Mother; Mary Elizabeth Thompson (1976).

Bruce is survived by his son Ken Thompson (Brenda) of Vernon, British Columbia, his loving Daughter by his bedside, Kelly Pagenkopf (Ralph Smith) of Calgary, Ashley Kate Pagenkopf (Granddaughter), Brandon Pagenkopf (Grandson), Ashlea Brassart (Granddaughter), Brady Brassart (Grandson), Sisters; Elizabeth (Liz) Lindsay of Ontario, Anne Louise Stark (Ken) of Calgary, Wife of his only Brother, Patricia Omeara (Thompson) of Kingston, Ontario.

Bruce was a dear Friend and Colleague of many throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, He will be Deeply Missed & thought about by so many. As his Granddaughter Ashley said “He is now in Heaven with Gramma.

We would like to invite all to attend a Celebration of the Life of Bruce Thompson to be held on Friday January 20, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Airdrie Cemetery 33 Big Hill Way Airdrie, Alberta at the Columbarium where Bruce’s ashes will be placed beside the Love of His Life Sandy Thompson.

The family will be releasing Balloons, as they have done since mom passed away in 2005. Please join us!!

After the service at the cemetery, all are invited to an afternoon Tea to Celebrate Bruce Thompson’s Life to be held at the Nose Creek Valley Museum, 1701 – Main Street SW. Airdrie, Alberta at 1:30 pm.
