Zahara , Frank 1939 -2016

Frank Zahara passed away quietly after a short bout with cancer on April 22 2016. He enjoyed celebrating his 77th birthday at his farm home in the Stauffer area (near Caroline Alberta) on January 11. He is survived by his wife Joyce and two sons Chris (Karen) and Roger (Cheryl). He enjoyed his grandchildren Zachary, Nasha (David), Derrick (Kristen) and Nicole (Trevor) and great grandchildren Angus, Emma, Jacob, Katelyn, Hadlee and Madynn. In addition to being a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and friend –his lifelong calling was farmer of both grain and cattle as well as a former member of local government in MD 133. As many Albertans he farmed in the spring, summer and fall and worked oil rigs, slashed brush/ timber and operated power boiler in the winter.  Second to his love for his family – his passion included fishing, hunting, camping and most things outdoors including picking berries and cutting firewood. He made friends easily anywhere he went. It could be at casino, airplane or waiting in line at the drugstore. He enjoyed the challenge of growing crops, trees and vegetables as well as building and fixing equipment for the farm and his hobbies. He appreciated all animals domesticated and non-domesticated. He insisted that a natural balance occurred in life and he worked hard to maintain a balance in all aspects.

Frank Zahara’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Lacombe Memorial Center, County Room on  Thursday, April 28 2016 at 100 PM.  His family would like to offer appreciation to many people that have touched his life. Just to mention a few - doctors, nurses and staff at the Lacombe Hospital, Lacombe Family Medical Associates (Clinic) and the University of Alberta, pharmacists and staff at the IDA Blackfalds and Rexall Lacombe. His wish is for you to smile, read the "I'm Free" poem and remember him when you make a donation (in lieu of flowers) to Central Alberta Cancer Center, 3942-50A Ave., Red Deer, AB. T4N 4E7.
