Jerome 'Jerry' Kemila Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerome Douglas Kemila on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in Lacombe, Alberta at the age of 81 years.

Jerry was born in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan on September 17, 1942 to Douglas and Elva Kemila. The oldest of six children, there was a lot of responsibilities and jobs around the farm. After leaving home in his late teens for a career in the banking industry, he soon met Lorraine, whom he was married to for 59 amazing years. They had twin boys, Jason and Jordan, who kept them very busy. From hockey and baseball, to skiing, soccer and golf, Jerry loved coaching and watching his boys throughout the years. Jerry and Lorraine owned a number of businesses throughout their life together. From Edmonton to Vernon, and a few other communities along the way, they made life-long friends wherever they went.

Jerry loved hockey and the Edmonton Oilers, fishing and camping with his boys, playing golf, and never passed up an opportunity for great conversation with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved his family with every piece of his heart. He was so proud of his grandchildren. Texting messages of encouragement before and after every hockey game, watching ball practices and dance recitals… he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on and truly was their number one fan. Papa’s support was constant and the love his grandchildren felt was immeasurable.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, son Jason (Cara), grandchildren Rhyanna, Jack and Lily; Brothers Ashley (Rosemary) and Bryan, Sisters Joanne, Sharon (Dale) and Karen (Roy), and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his father Douglas, mother Elva, son Jordan and daughter-in-law Denise.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Jerry’s name, http://www.cancer.ca.
