Rebecca 'Becky' Dawn Bos

Rebecca (Becky) Dawn Bos passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta on April 9, 2024 from a rare complication of surgery at the age of 38.

Becky was born to Karen & Vince in Drayton Valley, AB. After Sean’s arrival, the family moved to the Huxley area where Becky attended school up to grade 2. Starting in Grade 3, she moved to Red Deer to live with her Mom and Dug, were she continued her schooling and graduated from Lindsay Thurber Comp. She worked at Wendy’s during her high school years. After graduation she started working at Pennington’s where she worked her way up to store Manager. Her true calling came when she became a Mom to Lydia. She studied Early Childhood Development at RDC so she could start a day home to earn a living and raise Lydia on her own. She continued this right up until her passing having “mothered” many kids over that time. When Sean and Kelsey’s kids came around, she was the best Auntie ever, loving on them like they were her own. She was already thinking about the future and was looking at going back to school to pursue a psychology degree as she loved solving other people’s troubles. Family and friends were Becky’s world. She never missed an opportunity to engage with either. She will be greatly missed by all of us that were lucky enough to know her. 

Becky like many of her family, had Marfan syndrome. Over the last couple of years, especially in February, which is Marfan awareness month, she had been actively trying create more awareness of this disease.

Becky is survived by her daughter Lydia, her mom Karen Hunt, her brother & sister-in-law Sean & Kelsey Bos, sister Jaclynne Bos (Trevor), step dad Dug Hunt (Terri), step sister Shelby Job, step mom Jennifer Sanders, nephew & niece, Nicholas & Lilly, Grandma Rose Nelson, Grandma Margaret Bignold (Ken), numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Many Friends. Becky was predeceased by Grandparents; Bob & June McCulloch, & Bill Nelson, her father Vincent Bos, aunt Ivy McDonald, step grandparents Eugene & Maggie Hunt.

A Service for Becky will take place at the Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church on Friday April 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm with a luncheon and time for fellowship afterward. Please wear something BLUE, as that was Becky’s favorite color.
