Constance "Marg" Margaret (Harvey) Whyte

On Tuesday August 23, 2016 Margaret (Harvey) Whyte passed away peacefully at Revera Aspen Ridge in Red Deer, AB.

Marg was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all she met. Many good times and plenty of laughter surrounded her presence. Life was never dull with Granny around.

Born in Strathmore on September 12, 1929, Marg was the eldest of 3 children of Fred and Daisy Harvey. She spent many years growing up on farms in Strathmore and Poplar Ridge with her sister Joan Johnstone and brother Ross Harvey. 
Marg was married to Andy Whyte in 1955, resided in Lacombe until 1967 and then moved to the family farm in Poplar Ridge where they raised Reg, Val and Susan. Marg spent many years working at Lacombe Nursery and the Red Deer Westerner. She loved to golf, read and had a passion for crossword puzzles. She enjoyed travelling and had many adventures with family and friends throughout New Zealand, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and Hawaii.   

Her family was her pride and joy and she played an integral part in the lives of her grandchildren. You could always count on her being on the sidelines, cheering loudly at their sporting activities. Many family get togethers centred around Marg.   

She was predeceased by her husband Andy, brother Ross, sister-in-law Bunny, and her brother-in-law, Alvin Johnstone. Marg is survived by her children:  Reg (Sheryl), Val (Woody) and Susan (Greg); sister Joan Johnstone; grandchildren Dustin (Sue), Breanna (Jordan), Ali (Tyler) Jennifer, Marshall, Scott, Danny (Nicole); and great grandchildren Mya and Maliya, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

An informal Celebration of Marg’s life will be held at the Marquis Room at the Red Deer Westerner (4847A 19 Street, Red Deer, AB) on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the Red Deer Lending Cupboard (5406 43 Street, Red Deer, AB T4N 1C9).

We ask that you enjoy a glass of white wine in her honor and we hope it makes you smile as you reminisce about the crazy gal we all knew as Granny.
