In Loving Memory Of Christopher Duff
Chris was born on September 28, 1948 in Toronto, Ontario. He spent his childhood in Ontario and England. His family moved to Ottawa when Chris was a young man, where he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University. After working in Toronto for a few years, he moved to Alberta to pursue his career and took the position of a plant engineer and later plant manager of the Johns-Manville insulation manufacturing plant in Innisfail, Alberta. While at the Innisfail plant, Chris met his future wife, Wendy. They were married in 1983, giving Chris a ready-made family with three children, Terry, Janet, and Beth. He graciously accepted this role and enjoyed family life immensely. In June of 1999, Chris and Wendy retired and moved to Comox, Vancouver Island, where they bought an acreage, built a house, and spent many relaxing years gardening. Chris especially enjoyed growing strawberries. During this period, Chris joined the Christian faith.
After dealing with various health problems, Chris was diagnosed with a melanoma on his arm which ultimately led to the melanoma in his brain. Throughout his illness, Chris continued to be his usual calm and gracious self. Chris and Wendy then moved back to Alberta to be close to family. Chris’s health slowly deteriorated and he spent his last few weeks in the Lacombe Palliative Care Unit. He passed away on December 3, 2016 and will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Wendy, their children, Terry, Janet (Anthony) Tuininga, and Beth (John) Janssen, and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Michael and many nieces and nephews. Also by numerous brothers and sisters in law, and various good friends. Chris is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Joan Duff, his sister-in-law, Silvia Duff, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Walls.
