RODWAY, Devin Richard
August 28, 1948 – October 19, 2017
At 9pm on Thursday October 19, 2017, surrounded by the people he loved most in this world, Devin was called home by his Heavenly Father after a short but valiant battle with esophageal cancer.
Husband, daddy, papa, brother, uncle, friend, amateur comedian, CP Rail retiree, semi-proficient DIY home renovator, writer and story teller, golfer, Nascar lover and discoverer of all of the new emojis available on his ever present iPhone, Devin will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.
Prior to his passing, Devin forged a 69 year trail of unwavering faith, compassion, constant laughter, questionable fashion sense, stubbornness, generosity, uncompromising loyalty and for truly giving the best advice ever. While he will be greatly missed by his soul mate of 41 years Carla, their children Lisa (Del), Laura (Matt), Amber (Russ), grandchildren Kristyn, Alex, Riley and Dylan, “adopted family” Jim, Kelly, Ethan and Ranen Cole along with numerous family members, and his family of friends, we all take comfort in knowing that Devin is telling bad jokes in Heaven and smiling down on all of us.
We may never stop mourning Devin’s passing but will be celebrating his life at one of his favourite places, the Evangelical Free Church in Lacombe (4619 C & E Trail) on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2pm and we would love for you to join us to share your best Devin stories.
Special thanks to the staff of Unit A at the Lacombe Hospital, especially Nurse Edie, for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider making a donation in Devin’s name to the Central Alberta Humane Society, where his beloved furkids Tempeh & Tango were adopted from. Memorial donations in honor of Devin may be directed to the Central Alberta Humane Society at www.cahumane.com
And lastly, in honour of Devin, please make sure your fuel gauge never goes below ½ tank, make your beds and for goodness sake - turn off the lights!
